New member Oldsmobile 98 holiay coupe 1953
Hi I`m a new owner classic car it`s my first american classic car beceose i live in Poland.
A lot of work ahead of me to bring the car back to its former condition.
So I need any user manual of bodywork, electrical, engine lights etc.
I count on the help of other users who could help in restoring my old life in this classic that has long been my dream.
sorry for spelling mistakes I'm not fluent in English but I understand a lot.
The car is recently imported from USA it was not dismantled or repaired

Thx guys.
the car is more or less 95% complate and the sheet floor is not rusted no holes everything looks fine.
the right part of the front bumper is missing.
I was tried to start the engine (the vehicle has not been fired about 20 years)
I was cleen oil sump and oil pump, change the oil and filter and the engine was started but it has very low compression and he is working hard.
Engine removed and cleaned ready for dismantling

Very nice car.
You need one of these, and the seller says he ships to Poland.

You might want this as well.

If you search ebay for '1953 Oldsmobile manual", you'll find digitized versions, but they are a waste of money as they are nothing more than scans of the paper originals. There was no such thing as pdf or electronic version of any kind in 1953. All originals are paper. Scanned versions can vary in quality, and small details in figures and diagrams, such as the labels on wiring diagrams, can be smudged or otherwise unreadable.
It may be more of a hassle or take longer to get, but it is well worth waiting for and paying for a good-quality paper original.

Wow, that has the makings of a great car. I would redo the car in the original red and white. You already have a set of Fiesta Spinner wheelcovers which are very desirable. I would strongly suggest buying the shop manuals that Jaunty recommended. Unfortunately you have the Buick Dynaflow transmission. The hydra-matic transmission plant burned in 1953 and Oldsmobile was forced to use the Buick Dyna-flow. The dynaflow is a good transmission but not as good as the hydra-matic. This is a great website with lots of knowledge here and folks who are glad to help. I look forward to seeing your progress with this car.

Welcome aboard, we love the fifties Oldsmobile's. I don't think you will need the Dynaflow supplement as the transmission appears to be a Hydramatic. Good thing because in 53 it could have been a Dynaflow and the Hydramatic is a superior transmission.
Keep us posted as you up grade your car it's always fun to see the progress and the before and after pictures...... Lost in the fifties ...Tedd

Good catch on the transmission Tedd. SirMotorex you will be a lot better off with the actual hard copy of the shop manual. The electronic copies are often incomplete from what I understand and the colored schematics are not clear. To me I like have the old manual with a few greasy thumbprints on it from year ago. I have one that was rubber stamped by a dealership somewhere I New York.

If you don't have air conditioning then you really don't need the second manual. I just looked on ebay for 1953 Oldsmobile shop manuals and the prices are all over the place which is normal. The cheapest I found was $16.95 and reportedly shipped worldwide. Don't buy the first one you see on ebay.
