Hello from the Texas Hill Country

Hi all. I have been a member for a while, enjoy searching around
the site, new to posting although. I have been wrenching and
driving Oldsmobiles since my first one. It was a 69 88 with a 455.
My dad was peoed when he got home from work. "I was 14."
Man, would that thing burn up a passenger side tire!
My first, and maybe my only restore is my '69 442, auto, with
buckets and a/c. Gotta have a/c in central TX. It is # match
down to the tranny. Pulled it out together, and set it down on
the floor of the shop. Built a 455 for it and found an OG from a 70
442 to go behind it.
The one that got away from me... '66 442 auto, buckets,a/c
#'s matching, that I got out of an old storage field in Tulia TX,
27 years ago for a hundred bucks! All it needed was a carb. master cylinder, and a lid for the console....
Alas, it got me out of Amarillo, and I landed here on the Highland
Lakes.
Anyway, wanted to say howdy, Adam.

Welcome to CO Adam, sounds like you enjoy your Oldsmobiles, just like us. So where are the hills in Texas? I just drove down from Lawton OK to Dallas yesterday and all I saw were these little bumps on the horizon occasionally............actually just kidding. I have to be nice now that I am living in Texas.

Hi Dan and Cutlass gal. Thanks for the welcome!
Marble Falls is about an hour West of Austin.
We live on a chain of lakes and dams.
Our largest is Lake Bucannan. Followed by Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls.
Then Travis, and finally, Town Lake or Ladybird Lake.

Welcome to CO, Tru Blue 442. Dont'cha wish you still had the "one that got away"! Goes without saying. By the way (know folks on CO are tired of my writing about it, but trying to increase attendance), the NTOC is hosting a Zone Show October 7-9 at the Marriott on Hwy 114 north of Ft Worth at IH35W, across from Texas Motor Speedway. Read drag racing (you can race, or you can watch) on Friday evening up by Denton, judging Saturday AM, Awards Sunday AM. Several from the Austin/San Antonio area will be driving up. PM me if you want some contact names/phone numbers of those coming. Once again, glad you are here.

Welcome Adam,
I get over to Hill country for a vacation most years, eaten at the Bluebonnet Cafe a few times and shopped for car parts in Marble Falls a few times.
I don't know how long you have been living there and I don't want to come across as a smartass but first Sundays there is a "Cars'n'Coffee" meet in Leander, I went to it in April, a great way to spend time for petrolheads. I learned of it through the Gbody forum and met up with Mike, the guy who posted it up while I was there. My girlfriend and I are always delighted with the great people of Texas and the way they make us welcome. The pride Texans take in their home state is an example to us all.
Roger.

I'm a fairly new member and owner in Austin, plus in-laws have a house on LBJ so in Marble Falls often. Met some good people at the road relics fathers day show and there is also a Yahoo group for local Olds owners. Any pictures of the 442?
