Delta 88 Convertible

Hi everybody I am a newbie to the forum, from the UK.

I am looking to purchase an 88 Convertible to export back to the UK.

I am looking at a 350 with a single exhaust in Florida and was wondering if anybody could advise me on fitting a dual exhaust, removing the catalyst (not required for a 1975 car in the UK) and smog gear on the engine?

Also any Olds specialists in Florida that could carry out this sort of work?

Look foward to any help!

Welcome. Dual exhaust was an option on the 1971-74 cars, so yes you can do that. The biggest issue will be the need to source a 71-74 transmission crossmember that has the double humps for dual exhaust. Note that the Oldsmobile 350 used a crossover pipe that ran from the driver side manifold, under the oil pan, to the passenger side manifold for the single exhaust system. Factory dual exhaust systems simply put a cap over this extra hole in the passenger side manifold. The caps are available as repros.

Hi Joe, thank you for that information. The car I am looking at is a 75 so would this still apply?

1975 models ONLY came with single exhaust, which is why I wrote that you need to find the 71-74 crossmember if you want to convert to duals.

Thank you for the advice so far, I am sure that I will have more questions that I will post in the specific forums.
