NAOC license plate frame - free to good home

I have an extra one of these that I came across while straightening up the garage. I think I got it at a swap meet. Whoever had it before me drilled the holes for the lower license plate bolts as the frame normally has just the two on top. They did a good job, though, as the hole cuts are clean and sharp.

Anyway, I don't need anything for this, not even postage, as long as you're in the U.S. I just don't want to throw it away if someone wants it. First person to PM me their U.S. mailing address gets it. If you're not in the U.S. and you really want it, we can talk about shipping costs.

No, not at all. The National Antique Oldsmobile Club was founded in 1981, and it has an interesting history. It was originally founded as a counterweight to the OCA, some of whose members who owned pre-1960s Oldsmobiles resented the over-dominance of OCA events by Cutlasses and 442s. The club initially restricted membership to model years 1960 and earlier only as 1960 was the last year before the introduction of the Cutlass.

Over the years, probably as a result of this policy not allowing the club to grow in membership, they have gradually raised the eligibility year, first to 1964, then later 1976, and now it's open to any Oldsmobile up through 1981. This sort of defeats the original purpose for the club's founding as it now allows all the Cutlasses it used to exclude. So what's the point of the club's existence? Good question as it seems now to be just a smaller version of the OCA. I think, though, that it still tends to be dominated by the older, pre-'60s Oldsmobiles.

Anyway, this license plate frame is just a club item you could purchase like a t-shirt or baseball cap or whatever.

I still have it. If you want it, PM me your mailing address, or post it here if you don't mind the world seeing it. I'll get it right out.

w31man gets it! He is the first to send an address. It will go out in today's mail. Don't worry about the postage. It is negligible.
