Brian's W30

One of my oldest friends & longtime Olds nut ,Brian just had his '70 W30 post coupe frame off restored at Thorntons this past year. He's not a member here so I thought I'd share some pics!!! He bought it off the original owner back in '77 for the pricey sum of $1200!! It still has just over 60k original miles. It lived up in the Niagara falls area,so it had seen some nasty winters & it did need some minor patching on the floors & quarter, etc. I've had the privilege of working on it(and beating on it)for him since he bought it. While in decent shape for it's age it was to the point of "crap or get off the pot time" I'm so happy he finally decided to have this super rare & awesome car done!!! We did the motor & trans back in the '80s(he spun a rod bearing)& it had very little miles put on it since then. Thorntons just resealed & detailed the drivetrain as it still ran great! If you want to see some of the resto pics go to thorntons facebook page & it's under "70 W30 ready for some TLC"

Old thread, but still nice to see Thornton's beautiful work.

I hope they weren't the ones who put on the Pontiac shift ball.

Wow, You had to do some digging to get to my 6 yr old thread! I absolutely love Brian's car! I been part of my life for so long!! Unfortunately she's becoming more of a garage queen these days! We put the white shifter ball on it back in the 70s, It looks so much better than the boring black one! Personally I like my vintage white T handle that I saved from my first '68 442, I don't even own the correct no-pattern black ball that should be on my car.

Thanks no1oldsfan!!! We love the way the car turned out! I'm so glad we were finally able to get him to pry open his wallet & save the car after all these years! He spent a little over $50k having it done at Thorntons!
