kids helping with project

Okay I pulled back a little on the project was trying to have 455 and th400 put in by now for drive line length but all I got so far is I installed a internal regulator altonator and rewired for it
#83
So many things to do !!
I stepped back and reworked my list , so two weeks getting frame checked a friend has agreed to put it on a frame rack and make sure it's straight . after that 455/th400 installed to get drive line length should be done the same day hopefully !

So this is the worst of the window channel. I scraped about 80% of the goo and dirt out of it today.
I think I might clean and see if I can weld the holes up and clean up what I can. if it blows to much through. I guess I will have to do a small patch.

Make sure you let it cool down in between. I only let it fill up twice before ,I let it cool for a few hrs its not much at all and I started blasting my bigger stuff at work after hrs here and there don't want to burn up a compressor maybe I am over cautious

Have to admit, though, he did buy a few cars and drive without. Wasn't a very good boy at times.

They seem to be pretty tough . Mines a Porter Cable brand , and I've pretty much beat the snot out of it in the last 5 years or so . I sandblasted a ton of stuff with it , and it would have to fill up a bunch of times .

Just want to say this is a great thread. I don't own an holds, or any other classic right now, but have been thinking of getting back into cars. I currently rebuild bikes. Older Harleys and Honda's, but it is pretty much a solo hobby. I am thinking a car could be a family thing. Even if the kids don't want to wrench we could still all go for ice cream, a drive after church, or to shows as a family. It is hard to load the wife, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old on a motorcycle. You have confirmed my suspicions that this can be a family affair.

Again thanks sometimes I feel like I am posting to a sound board
Edit yes the car shows are a hoot sometimes the old times let the little one climb in and you can just imagine there reactions as well as my stress leavel at that time

Incredible work . I was looking at your pictures of the roof area near the back window hoping that the roof consists of one layer of metal , because I have a couple of small rust holes under the vinyl top on my car , and if there's two layers of metal spot welded together that make up the roof I'm in trouble . I seen a late 70's or early 80's Olds that had big rust holes in the roof , and it looked to me that there was two layers of metal that the rust ate through . I would have no way of getting in between the two layers if this is the case , and would have to replace the whole thing or risk rust coming back if I couldn't get it all sanded / blasted off .

A good person to ask this is 2blu442 I think he has cut several roofs off in his time

Thanks . I have to deal with the rust at some point , both rear window and windshield need to come out to get at rust under there also . I'm not going to bother doing that until I can get the replacement metal for the cowl / dash rust .
I wish I had the patience to let my kids help me with my car like you were doing , that's awesome ! Keep up the good work . Your car is looking good .
