Finally! Looking really good Paul, you should be proud of what you've accomplished. Feels good to get it out and drive it doesn't it? Few little finishing touches and you'll be good to go.
I wish the day had been bright sunshine - would have been nice to see how the sun on the car hits the ridges with highlights.
So from now on when you do stuff, color is mandatory ok?

Paul,
Nice work! Really nice details on the silver inlay on the dash and side trim.
One question. I noticed that your car has a 'disc brake' circle on the pad. Is it the original? Reason I ask is mine is also disc and doesn't have that. When was yours built and what assembly line??

The 'disc brake' button was not original then for 72 and older Olds. Not sure about newer Olds. I know Chevy used them.
Color looks great. Now is the trunk lid setting high in the back or just the way the gap looks in the picture?
Do you plan to put the trim rings on or are you going to leave them off a while and see how you like it without?
With a dark color, with or without looks good.

The pictures are good but it does look better in person. I was a good car show and was great to meet a fellow CO member. Isn't that what it is about - meet new people and gather more information.
I was great to meet you and your father - will have to make it to the Tues nite show. Glen

Thanks for all the compliments.
Nope, although I have had a few people ask if it was. It is actually Kona Blue.
Allan, It feels GREAT to be driving it. And I will post in colour from now on.
Yes, all the stripes are painted on.

Glad you are enjoying driving it now - great feeling, eh?

And I am planning on leaving the large trim rings off. I find it gives the car a bit more of an aggressive look.

Meh..... Like I see everything. Just was posting the answer you were looking for that's all. I know sometimes Paul gets pretty busy and might not reply for awhile - that's all. BTW, I was reading your plans for your car. Sounds pretty cool. Best part about wheels is you can always have more than one set to put on the car when you feel like you want to 'change looks or moods'. Just the rubber isn't all that cheap nowadays.

I just realised I had not posted updated pics of the interior yet. I will try to get some and post them soon. The door panels are on now, and the only things left were, until tonite, the sail panels and the rear shelf.
The newest problem happened Tuesday night on the way home from a cruise night. I had closed the windows while I was in at a restaurant with friends. When I left, I tried lowering the driver's window but it jammed about 3/4 down. I played with the window crank and one direction it jammed and the other it just spun. While driving I heard a thud inside the door and then I could just push the window down by hand.
Took the driver's door panel off tonite, and noticed the steel channel that is attached to the bottom of the glass is now sitting in the bottom of the door. I also realised that one of the plastic rollers is now completely missing (a piece was missing before).
So, now to my questions. How do you replace the plastic rollers on the scissor mechanism? Where can you buy the plastic rollers?

I had no stencil or exact dimensions. I took rough measurements leaving excess all the way around. I then put it in place, smoothed it out and then trimmed off the excess.
The material was just "aluminum" vinyl wrap I bought on eBay. It is self adhesive. I found it easy enough to install.
I hope this helps.

Delta254, it is up to you about removing the dash. My dash was out already, so I did it before putting it back in. I think if you lowered your steering column you could probably do it in car.

Since my last post, a lot of progress has been made on the Cutlass.
I've replaced the engine, dash and courtesy light harnesses. The rad and heater core have been flushed.
And quite a bit of other wiring for the aftermarket gauges I'm putting in.
And since build threads need pics... Just for you Allan. And it's not even black and white!

Since I am going with custom gauges, I also needed to find a new way to mount the gauges in the dash.
In the end I decided to go a different direction and not modify the original gauge surround panel.
I discussed it with a friend and this is what he made for me.

I think this will fit well with the black/chrome/brushed aluminum look of the rest of the interior.
I'll post a pic of the front when the rest of the interior is finished.
Today I finally took the Cutlass for the first drive of 2013. Unfortunately, a few more issues were found, but that's what a test run is for.
Now I'm waiting for a few more interior pieces to come in then hopefully I can put the whole interior back together and leave it that way for a while.

I haven't had much time to take pictures of anything, but I am making progress.
I took it to a mechanic late last week to adjust the carb and do the timing. The car runs so much better now. He even aligned the headlights using the proper equipment. Such a difference.
I took the car for a 200km run yesterday and it ran well. The overheating from last year seems to be sorted out. It feels great to be able to get in and drive now.
Tonite I spent working on getting the interior back together. Still a few things left to finish off, but it's getting there.
And before finishing up for the night, I quickly grabbed a pic of the gauges lit up. The gauges are made by Speedhut. They light up nicely and I had them make the speedometer dual scale km/h / mph. Each gauge on the Quad gauge have their own programmable warning light.

The interior is finally finished! All the door panels are on along with a new package tray. I'll let the pics do the talking.
The aluminum gauge panel is finished, but not finished My machinist friend and me are trying to figure out how to finish off the panel. Any ideas?
