A little progress but no pictures yet. Heads are at the machine shop. They are 67 Toro heads and I ground down the AIR bumps. I am having them magnafluxed cause the engine they came off of was missing a piston and the rod and piston pin went thru the cylinder wall! Got the lifters in and were purchased from EGGE. Am slowly fixing the passenger side fender while hoping a nice replacement comes along. Went to clean and paint the driveshaft and found some pretty good dents on the tube up near the front universal. Lucky for me I have a replacement from the 67 I parted many years ago. I am starting to wonder if anything mechanical that came with the car is any good? So far I have replaced or supplied the front fenderwells, hood, gas tank, one lower control arm, complete brake system, driveshaft, the Muncie and shifter (missing), the rear, the engine block, heads, intake, crankshaft, shocks, springs, wheels, front seat (missing), dash assembly, steering wheel. Still a long way to go but boy am I having fun!

They were not red. They were black plastic that were in a 67 4dr hardtop I was thinking about parting out. I ended up selling the whole car.

Just for they record, do you know (or can find out) what was the build date was of that car?

And isn't that a huge part of what it is all about!

Sorry I did not keep any records of it and I don't know the guy that bought it. It went to Houston to some street racer down there.

Will check out those pictures. It has been 2 weeks and machine shop has not called to say they are done (valve job), or to report any problems. I will call them Friday and see if they even started on them.

Joe - Here are the pix of the various stages of the repair of the crack in my original W30 head. It was expensive, but the head IS the original W30 so it it is virtually "priceless" especially since it is from a "matched pair" with same correct casting date!
I will probably only be able to load 4 pix at a time so it will take at least 3 posts to get them all. Smitty did a magnificent job on it!! Enjoy!! Will throw a pic of his car i just for giggles! T.

I really want to get some sheet metal bolted back on but work has interrupted that for the past month and my wife and I are headed for holidays at the end of next week so it will be a bit yet

No progress on the heads, machine shop is slow to get to em. Have to call them again this week. A little progress on the front core support is happening. Thankfully my headlight bezels are nice and not dented but I will need to spring for the repo turn signal lenses as mine are slightly milky.

Ok, an update on the heads, magnaflux said good on the 67 Toro C heads. Guides will be installed, all new valves, grind the seats, minimal cleanup mill on head and exhaust side of heads. I will assemble with new springs and seals. Wow almost a grand for the freaking heads!! Holidays are here so cash is nill. Plenty to do without spending cash. Soon I hope to be stripping paint.

Well Joe, at least your heads werent cracked like mine were!!! i have got the cracked one back from repair shop and am finishing them up. Good luck with that stripping!

So I needed a parts car that supplied the gas tank, dash pad and glove box lid along with some suspension parts that were bad on the 442. This would be the green 4dr. I managed to sell some stuff off of it and recouped the purchase price. When this white one fell into my lap for about the same price I could not resist. I pretty much bought it for the passenger fender. I need to pull it to see if it is indeed better than the one off the 442. The green car was missing the front fenders hood and trunk lid when I got it.

Project looks good. If you need anything, let me know. I have a lot of stuff I won't be bolting back on. By the way, can you please post some detailed pictures of the correct placement for the vin tag. When I picked my car up from the sand blasters he handed it to me. We '67 guys need to form our own club.

Thanks for the parts offer but I think I am good with the 2 parts cars I have. I guess you want a shot of the door pillar tag..... arent the 2 rivet holes still there? I or someone else can get you that picture......give me till the weekend.

Finally got the heads back. It cost 865.00 for a magnaflux, hot tank, core plugs, minimal cleanup mill ex and head side, install guides, new valves, grind seats, set valve stem heights. I just ordered a spring kit from Mon-***** and as soon as I have it I can assemble and install. I am wondering if I should use one of the sets of the steel shim gaskets I have or go with the blue Fel-Pro ones....anyone?

Joe --- it all depends on how interested you are in what your final compression ratio will calculate to as well as the amount of lift/duration of your cam! Thicker gasket= less compression!

Joe, I'm really enjoying following along on your project...keep up the good work. I am currently restoring a Holiday as a Trak-Pak which brings up a question for you guys. Are the Trak-Paks in fact documented? I was under impression there was no way of knowing a dealer installed from owner installed kit so actual number out there is unknown. I remember buying W30 cams etc over counter for my 65 back in the day and when I blew it up I bought a 67 engine out of junk yard. It had the air cleaner shroud but I didn't really know what I had. Since I got it out of junk yard I assume it came from a steet driven car. I kept the shroud when I traded the 65 (big mistake!) for 67 SS auto. I was going to ebay it when I ran across my current 67 rust bucket, with 4spd, 3.91 posi, ralley pak. I found an oem battery vent but since I'm just going for 'the look' I'm using repo battery cables, air scoops and hoses-I will call mine "owner installed"-ha. Anyway, hope it turns out as good as yours is looking!

Thanks! There is no way of telling when the Trac Pac was done without a sales receipt from the dealer. You can guestimate and look for hints to see if it was a possible era install or newer. Customer or dealers could have done the install. Customer jobs usually were incomplete and rather sloppy I have been told. They just wanted to go racing! Great find on the air cleaner. I had to take a second mortgage to purchase mine and the repro stuff has been a life saver....
