No will not be at Nats, maybe when its a little closer.... Thanks for the compliment and that Saffron 67 looks awesome! I have a soft spot for Saffron... I am happy with the Spanish red on mine but it would not have been a top choice if I were buying new.

I thought maybe the former owner would like to see what happened to the car after he sold it. It has been over 3 years with no contact. I looked him up on facebook and sent him a friend request. Needless to say he was quite happy to see the finished product! When I purchased the car it was a project gone stale for him. He said he had purchased the car for his wife who always wanted a muscle car. He never got around to it and was not an Olds guy so he had little knowledge of things that were specific to the Olds. After many years in the Minnesota barn he decided to sell it.... With my contact to him he commented that it must have been meant to be. Shortly after he sold it an F-4 Tornado hit his place wiping out everything. He and his family survived but his neighbor lost his life. The barn was totally gone. He also said that he had a road runner front clip in the barn and that was found about a mile away. Those that new him thought it was pieces of the 442! So I guess I actually did save the car in more ways than one.

How true! My question would be why a manual steering, manual brake, manual shift musclecar? Not a choice I would make for a female.... just sayin!

Mike as always thanks. With the build thread I am hoping it would help others with their resto. That is why I gave costs I incurred and sources. Great it helped but I thought your build was done as well?

Well the calendar says spring but really doesnt seem like it here in NJ. Am anxious to get the car out. A couple of things I want to do yet and that is to move the fan away from the radiator a bit and switch to a 7 blade fan. The car wants to run a little warm on hot days during stop and go. I came across a few pictures of when I saw the car advertised on MN craigslist. These few pictures were the only thing I had to go on. It was hard getting most any info out of the seller mostly because he was not sure of most anything. Oldsmobiles and the 67 442 were not among his car knowledge. He thought the car had a posi and it did not and he knew knothing of a Track Pack. He assured me the car was solid but needed total resto and some things were missing. Lucky for me the car was what I expected but it was risky to purchase even a project car like this. I think I paid 3 G's for the car and had to go get it.

Havent been getting the car out as often as I like. I did move the fan back from the radiator some and installed a slightly larger 7 blade fan. I also added some of the Water Wetter to the 3 row radiator and it did make a big difference in cooling the 400. I can now do stop and go driving without the temp gauge rising to 210 and above. Perhaps I should have went for the 4 row radiator but all seems well now. I still need to swap the shifter as it once again got jammed. My ne[hew was up from Florida and took a short video of the car. Here it is.

I was able to swap the shifter a week ago and test drove it last night. Wow what an improvement! I did not realize how bothersome the old one was till now. This "new" one was said to have been rebuilt and it was out of the 67 442 vert because I put a super shifter in there many years ago. The old one would miss 1st gear at times and reverse was hard to get and at times it would jam trying to get 2 gears at once.

Gm at Carlisle took place in June and I decided to show the 442. The weather was perfect. To my surprise a representative from Musclecar Review Magazine awarded the car celebrity choice and a few pictures can be seen at the link below. The guy got the message of what I am trying to convey, an era stocker look.

Yes, its the cheapo wheel. Found it on Ebay and since I was missing the correct deluxe wheel I thought it would be cool. I have since found the correct Supreme wheel in the right color but prefer this one for now.

Cool. I like it since it's rare.

I have 3 or 4 black cracked deluxe wheels, and will shell out uber dinero to have one redone.

I redid this one myself, bondoed the cracks, sanded smooth, primered and painted and cleared then steel wooled the clear to take the shine down. Looks good enough for me.

Awesome car, Joe!

I especially like the 442 radio delete! Guess the only music they wanted to hear was the purr of the engine!
