Do you need many parts or have you acquired some already. Have you owned the car for long? Do you know much about its history, pace car details, was it customer ordered or track based, build sheet etc with the car?
Paul.

pace car

unfortunately there was no documentation. It was an original paint car with a number matching drive train. Missing the dash rear bumper and front bumper and brackets. The shop sold the hood and ram air parts. built March of 1970. Looking to convert over to dual gate and add some option.

Keith, Can I ask please, from curiosity, were either lists you mention or any others you know of, written by Dr John Mansell from Pa? Reason I ask is I own a Ford Pace car that was his and he had other pace cars including a 70 4-4-2 that was posted about on this site.....I know that he went to Indy for many years and documented the pace cars there. The 69 Camaro guys use his list of cars as official, as he was physically there at that time and I believe there was not an official GM list for those cars. He documented many of the cars as queens car, festival, official etc. I was wondering if any of the lists you use were written by him also? Thanks, Paul.

Dr Mansell AKA DR PACE CAR loved go to indy just to get vins of the cars. I talked to him many years and we went over the pace car lists that Oldsmobile had the original and the Revised list. He had most of the numbers listed and I did add a few vins that were in the Pool. He told me then he had the lists an mention the 69 list you speak of. Yes he had the years he attended. So to answer your question the Oldsmobile lists were mostly complete but he gave me several vins not on either list.

Sorry to briefly interrupt the thread....Keith, I may have mentioned here before but in case I did not....When you spoke with Dr Mansell, did he ever mention a list he made for the 68 Torino pacecars, as there does not appear to be one anywhere specific to the cars that were at Indy like lists for the 69 Camaro, 70 Olds etc? I received with my car some details of festival cars and local Indianapolis area dealer cars but this was not complete. It did have vin numbers for the cars he logged, together with mileage, price and any faults, as they appeared to be cars available to buy when they were returned from Indy. The car Dr Mansell (now my car0 ended up purchasing new/returned to Ford was on this list, but the list was not a list written at Indy on the day of the race. I wondered if he mentioned to you if he wrote a detailed list such as for the 69 and 70 cars etc? I spoke with his son, Lee, who was very young at that time, he said that 68 was the first year that the family attended Indy. Any info appreciated. Thanks, Paul.

pace car

Just found out this is car number 129. It was used as a display car for the front entrance gate at the 500 Race.

hope you got my last response. also you need to start looking for festival and track information on the 68 year. here is one from ebay to start 152928008447 just be cautious of the pricing on some items. another avenue is to go to the track and visit the phone archives and do research on the 68 race. there will be many photos and the pace cars will be in there as well. they will sell you the pictures that you find (do not know the cost now). b&w as well as color. as for any list they will not have one but hey never hurts to ask
