i decided to convert the 66 to 67 solely because i like the front segmented headlamps & the 4 tail lamp design.
ps- great looking ride! youre on your way to a sweet looking 67 too..i might need help re assembling mine. its been so long since i took it apart, and ive moved houses since then too!
yeah the roadtrips are most definitely a fun time..
Montreal for a transmission
New Jersey for bumpers
Michigan for a hood

thanks guys..i'm getting the back glass this weekend, found it pretty cheap online from a place in ILLINOIS!
heres a new shot..we are converting this into a non-AC fire wall. I still have to fit the blower motor housing & drill out the centre.

the quality of the hood looks good so far, and i found out that the hood springs have to be changed when you are going with a fiberglass hood from VFN. they sell the springs for 25 bucks, and its def worth the money.
they have been making hoods since the 60's and seem like they know their stuff. my body guy says i might have a problem with flexing in the centre of the hood.
if i do, i'll add something to reinforce it.
next up is test fitting the engine & headers-
i'm waiting on a steering box to arrive. i am also searching hi & lo for a steering column...66 or 67 tilt/non tilt, floor or column shift doesnt matter to me.
does anyone have any tips?

Post some pics of the headers fitting.
I have a few columns hanging around. Let me dig them out and I'll get back to you on them.

66 and 67 are very different and not interchangable without surgery. You need a 64-66 BOP column. A Chevelle should also work but its a little different.

arrgh, you are corrct sir-
i found that out last night trying to test fit a 67 column.
thaks for the tip, i wasnt sure anything other than an Old column would fit!

67 was the year they decided too many people were getting speared by the steering shaft in serious accidents. They made the mounts break away and the shaft collapsing in 67.

hood & fender have been test fitted.
the VFN hood fits well, but will need to sanded/filled to fit perfectly. the hood requires lighter springs on the hinges.
the fenders from the 66 were used, with 67 fender extensions.
(i am converting front & rear end to 67 style, as i prefer the look better)

heres my latest update:
headers do not fit (arrgh) i'll need to have something custom made- or fit stock manifolds if there is nothing available by summer.
2004r transmission has been rebuilt and is awaiting mating to the engine.
i've been fabbing brake lines in preparation.

I got some pics of my hood. Fits well, not perfect but does the job. A little adjusting would help which I've failed to do yet. Flexes in the middle when warm. Need to put insulation blanket in. Too cheap to buy the springs, bought a hood prop instead. I won't drive with my hood not closed all the way anymore.
