I would suggest that you spend a little time learning how to post pics now. There are a bunch of threads on it. I don't mind doing it once or twice but it takes about 10 minutes to host and post five or six pics in the body of the thread as I've done above. Posting them with the picture function here is easier but as you've found out, you have to down size them first.

Good luck. Nice car

Great car. Seems like it is getting done almost as fast as cars on Overhaulin'!

I hope you build it like you want it. If you like bucket seats, put in buckets and keep the original bench in the basement. Good luck!

Can anyone direct me to the proper grille for my car? Not sure if I have the right one or Google pics do. An opg parts or some other link would be great so it takes the guess work out. I'm hoping to get the car back in possession hopefully by early next week at the latest. This project has me completely tapped out after all the mechanic shops the tire center took it to and the one that said they could do it then reffered me somewhere else i now have a blown head gasket and someone left the key on and blew some sort of relay or something I can't afford the 600 to install the decals or the cost for a new grille right this second but id love to know wich one I need. I'll get u guys the newest pics as I get them. And ty so much for posting for me ally olds didn't know I was taking so much of your time XD (completely non sarcastic srsly ty)

Try Fusicks $229.00 for the set. Wow, I paid $80 back 18 years ago. http://www.fusickautomotiveproducts....number=G7006/7

And the headlight area the outer piece is the bezel which is metal bright aluminum finish and then housings plastic greyish, lamps themselves finally the buckets usually black.

Engine bay

Well the exterior is done more or less and I'm moving into the engine and engine bay. I'm planning on pulling everything and repainting original colors, is there any reason i shouldn't repaint? The painter that did my car apparently was shoddy at masking. They didn't even clean up the car after doing the job so i have over spray all over i gotta deal with. Also the decals are a little creased and bubbly. At least the metal work looks solid and straight.

Decals shouldn't be creased or bubbled. Sent it back have him do it right. Over spray? why? was this some back yard painter or a super down and dirty cheap paint job?

Lol no it sure was not a cheap job...He received 16k to fix the damage and do all the decals so I have no idea why there is over spray or why I got it back caked with grime and smelling like ****.

Looks like it was painted in a garage. For 16K it should have been in a state of the art spray booth. Are you happy with the out come? That's all that matters.
When I was looking to have mine done, very little body work, I was looking for a painter with top quality equipment. Ended up at the local GM dealership, all high end equipment and spray booth. I won't tell you the price it will just make you up set.

Progress report

Overall not too pleased with the quality of the work but at least it's done and looks miles better than what it was.

Well the oil filter was clogged with some orange plastic among other things, so ill be needing to get new rings, main bearings, and rod bearings heads machined and my crankshaft turned.........already ordered a new oil pump, filter, fuel pump, and timing chain and i have a full engine gasket kit. Is there anything else is should be replacing or upgrading or whatever while I'm in here. Also does anyone have the paint codes for the gold engine paint, and the black engine bay paint on hand?

Well the engine is at the machine shop and looks like we'll be replacing pretty much everything internally. Apparently it was ran hard with a clogged oil filter. At this rate ill have a brand new car fairly soon, feels like i either have or plan to replace just about everything on it....Never got a clear answer on whether i should repaint the engine bay or just try to spruce up the old. It feels like with everything else being repainted i might as well do that too. If anyone has paint codes or ideas what to do with it id love to hear them.

Well this is a great example of why the timing set should be replaced before it becomes chunks in the oil pan. Thank you for sharing, that others may avoid engine damage.

With a clogged filter, the bypass should have allowed oil to the engine still. Of course that oil may have plastic bits in it.

To get to the filter those bits had to go past [thru] the oil pump. To get to the oil pump they had to be sucked past the inlet screen, which does have a "let stuff past if clogged" feature. So, the engine was run hard, long past the point the inlet screen was loaded. I have taken out oil pumps that were pretty much filled [the inlet screen housing] with plastic bits.

The good news is you will have a very nice fresh engine. Clean well the oil filter adapter and its bypass valve. Or buy NOS.

Should you refesh the engine bay?
With a new engine and new paint?
Of course. You are familiar by now with the M word, right? "Mitaswell...."

No time like the present. Easy Access.
It will look like dreck next to the pretty new engine.
What's that term? "Diamond in a goat's @$$"

Lol i completely agree with the paint it thing i just wanted to make sure there was no reason i should leave it alone. And as to the engine being ran hard that was its previous owners I'm going to baby the hell out of this thing when i can finally drive it....i have literally only drove it once and that was to the tire center where it got smashed. Also does anyone have a picture of a perfect or close to engine bay that they can either post or link so i can copy it for my restoration? Pulled it out of the garage and started to clean out some of the first few hundred layers of dirt grime and over spray that was my car, and its starting to look nice and pretty again and reminding me why i started this.

I am restoring my 72 cutlass supreme. I have pics of my engine and engine bay . things will be slightly different from 70 to 72. you will have to determine the diffrences. I would recommend an assembly manual. they are cheap on ebay and have made my restoration much easier. I use it almost every time I work on the car.

Well I just got my engine back from the machine shop. Is it just me or for 1600-1700 dollars shouldn't they have put it back together? Just went to the garage and my engine is in several different boxes full of parts.....
