interior bulbs all the same

I really hated to start a new thread, but I'm not sure someone would pick this up on the old one.
Well I pulled my fuel gauge on my 72 cutlass, and I looked at all the lights.
Top one looks burned out not sure about the rest for now.
The top bulb had 194# on it, but the others had some other numbers.
I really could'nt read them, but the question is can I replace them with 194 bulbs all around the quage.
Also the light that lights up the dash for the heater and the wipers under the blue lense. How do I get that out. I felt around and I could not pick up on where that bulb is. Appreciate the help. Barb.

You might want to consider putting in all 168 bulbs instead of the 194's. They are slightly brighter (about half a candlepower) Also, if you go to buy them, try buying them in bulk (10 bulbs to a box) from a local old school parts store. If you get them skin packed at the AutoZone, they are stupidly expensive if you're going to need more than 2.

The bulbs that shine down on the instruments are in a flat black weird metal housing thing that has what looks like vents on the bottom and then that part is attached to the dash. You have to access them from behind the dash.

roger that.

I had about $35 of 2 packs in my hands and the guy at the counter told me he had the 10 packs behind the counter IIRC the 2 paks were close to $4 a piece the 10pks were about $5 !!!!

OK, I'll look for the 168 bulbs. They sure are expensive little bulbs, Wonder why. So the vent metal thing comes of with a screw or can I get at the bulb somehow. Barb.

No, unscrew the socket ccw from behind the dash or from the holes where the instruments go.
I assume this is for the lower floodlights.

Old thread but Incase anyone is reading - the best way I found to access the four lights that light up heater controls and wiper / convertible top controls on a 72 A body is to pull the gauge on both sides of Speedo - easy access that way ~ Joe
