trunk tension rod help

I have a 1967 cutlass. Can anyone give me advise on installing a tension rod? I know its a stressful job and its not easy. But should the trunk be closed when installing? Im thinking it should so there is no tension. I dont know I could be wrong. And could someone please post a couple pictures of their trunk rods, One of each side. Thank you, merry christmas

You can make a tool to install them easily out of a piece of pipe with a notch on the end, and a carriage bolt through it cross-wise a couple inches down from the notched end. It will essentially duplicate the factory tool.
