Custom bucket seat
Has anyone ever turned the 60 portion of a 60/40 front bench seat into a bucket? I mean removing the fold down arm rest and the small middle section of the seat. I would like to try on my 77 Cutlass Supreme so I can achieve the look of pillow top bucket seats with console. Al

Since the 60/40 bench seat utilizes 4 seat tracks, I would think you would be able to convert a secondary passenger seat to fit and function on the driver's side with minimal effort... I have never seen this done on a 77 but I have seen it on later models, specifically Cutlass Ciera...

Thanks for the replies guys. Looking underneath the seat it kinda looks like the factory welded an additional metal support that would go over the transmission hump. I would need to remove that, the fold down armrest, the extra padding and then tuck or fold the excess material over the side. I bought an extra 60 portion of the seat so I could modify that instead of my original seat. I know I will get it done, so I guess my question is, do you think this will look good with the console and all. I attached my current seats I have in there now

It is done frequently on 91-96 B-bodies. Lift the cover off of the center portion, and remove the supporting frame. Then you can tuck and fold the material and hog ring it in place. Right seats are also adapted for use on the left side. The mechanism can be swapped over to the opposite side for convenience.

Super comfy. I had these in when it was a bench seat so I know the comfy factor. The trans Am buckets were great but the pillow top buckets is the look I was after. I like to mod but not over the top. I always like to do something maybe the factory thought about doing but never did. There will be a lot of head scratching when people come and look at my car at the cruise ins this summer.
