1969 442 bucket seat chrome trim end caps
I am replacing the chrome piping trim on the bucket seats. There was chrome bullet style end caps that were available to install so I bought them. The seats right now do not have the end caps. Thought they may have all been just taken off but as I try to fit an end cap I wonder if they are not supposed to have them cause they don’t fit well. They have molded in black bullets at the end of the back panel where the chrome trim stops. Question? Are they supposed to have the chrome ends caps and if so any tips on how they install?

Buyer beware indeed. I like to put a car back the way it came unless that is impossible or cost prohibitive. My 69, is pretty damn close to factory including numbers. My 70 I am restoring will not be as much due to the latter restriction because of some missing w30 parts. Thanks guys.
[qaQUOTE=mrolds69;1111189]X2, never had them. Unfortunately...you are going to find a ton of parts that EVERY 68-72 car had that are wrong or don't fit, or that were never used on your car! Caveat emptor......[/QUOTE]

Unfortunately some of the repro vendors seem to "create" parts to sell that were never actually used originally...yet they claim they were.
It's one thing to sell parts....it's another to claim "these were used on x,y/z cars when built" for example.

1968 was the last year for the end caps. I needed a couple for mine that were missing. I ordered some & in typical aftermarket fashion the new ones aren't quite the same as the originals, they're a little smaller in diameter & didn't fit that well

I was wondering when installing the chrome end cap on the bucket seat trim if the end cap itself sits completely over the trim or just over the cut ends. They don't sit completely flush; as you stated above that the diameter is smaller. Did you come up with a solution for this problem or does someone sell better reproduction end caps yet? Thanks again
