1966 Cutlass 4-speed console carpet.

1966 Cutlass 4-speed console carpet.
I have a question concerning carpet on 66 Cutlass 4-speed consoles.
When I received my first 66 Cutlass in April 66 the console had matching carpeting on the lower section of of the console that was attached all the way around.
My Cutlass assembly manual on page 1-2.29 shows the carpeting pattern and specifies that it should be glued on and shows also fasteners.
There is no such page for the automatic console.
My current console shows no carpeting attached and I don't know if the console is original.
All this said, I have yet to see a 4-speed 66 Cutlass or 442 with the console carpeted. I have seen quite a few and no one seems to know anything about this.
When I replace or repair my console and even more replace my carpeting what should I do about the carpeting the the assembly manual says should be there.
Looking forward to comments.
Thanks
Wayne

Gosh, sorry, that was 50 years ago, and I have no idea.

This may not help, but just another bit of information. I've got a 1965 442 4 spd car and the console is painted to match the interior color. No carpet on it.
But I've seen several 64-66 automatic transmission consoles and they all had carpet on them. John

What printing of the assembly manual do you have?
I checked the two that I have and the page number you listed on both of mine says for JT transmission and does not have any reference to carpet on the manual trans console.
I have never seen a manual console have carpet.

No, not really, that was aftermarket. Anyhow, thanks for the info for carpet on the 4-speed. I must be having some memory fade. So no carpet on the 4-speed console. Thanks for the help. Spring is around the corner, maybe. It snowed again this morning.
