1968 convertible top boot cover install issue
Hey all, Got a Top well cover from the Parts Place. How in the hell do you get the corded strip to go in the metal channel just behind the top of the rear seat? have wrestled with it, tried silicon spray, tried a screen window roller tool, warmed it in the sun and can not it to even get to start. For our trip to Duluth today I just secured it with some stick on velcro but would like to have it as it should be. Anyone have ideas or can offer practical advice from doing it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The factory 68 used a small strip of molded plastic, not a corded strip. It fits very snugly in the channel. I can't imagine trying to get something corded into it.

I know I'm late to the dance here but maybe for the next time?
Are you referring to the boot or the well cover ?
In either event here is what I found.
Just bought a new boot for my 69. I removed the rear seat-back ( which of course requires the removal of the seat as well). In so doing the metal track that houses the boot ( a channel that allows easy sliding out and sliding in of the boot ) is attached with screws. If your referring to the well, after removing the metal channel, the front edge of the well material is glued over the edge of the seat back frame. After reinstalling the channel with the new boot, and the seat back reinstalled the appearance is totally finished.
