Glove box lock for 66 Dynamic 88

I've had a tough time finding a glove box lock for my 66 Dynamic 88. I did find this part, though, which looks nearly identical to the broken lock that came with the car. The replacement is for a 1954-72 GM Truck Glove Box. Is it possible that this would work for a 66 Dynamic 88?

Most GM locks from the 1960s are common across many different vehicles, so it's certainly a possibility.

FYI, GM used the same key blank from the 1930s through 1966. The round and octagonal head keys from that period are even the same blank - only the shape of the head is different. PM me if you want help keying the new lock to match your old keys.

Actually, that would be great Joe. I'll drop you a line when the lock arrives.

@joe_padavano: Hello! My glove box lock arrived today. It's the button version that doesn't need a key. Do you know how to get the chrome retainer ring off the front of it? Even better, do you have complete instructions for installing it? It looks easy, if I could figure out how the ring comes off.

Looks like you got a Chevy one, the 66 olds big car is different, but you can find it on eBay. Do a search fro 65-66 88, starfiee and 98 glove box locks and it should pop up. Or check Fusick.

The Chevy one with the lower tab won’t mate with your threaded bezel without modification. But I sincerely wish you good luck on adapting it.
