3rd row seat for 1983 Custom Cruiser

My Custom Cruiser did not come with a third row seat and I was curious to know if installing one would adversely affect the value? I am also interested in what it would cost to buy the parts necessary to put one in. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had an 80 Custum Cruiser and I put in the 3rd seat. It's not hard, the side rails in the cargo area are set up for the 3rd seat. You'll need to find a donor and take ALL the parts - panels (one with the seat back), bottom cushion, release mechanism, rubber strips, seatbelts, all the hardware, etc. Most important, you'll need to cut out the seat cushion attachment "clips" that are welded to the cargo floor, and, cutout the seatbelt anchors, also on the cargo floor. If you do it right, no one will ever know. I can't speak to how it would affect the value though...

If you find a donor car hopefully you could get all the parts for cheap.

Nothing much will change the value of a Custom Cruiser besides making sure it runs well and has good paint. Putting a 3rd row seat in will just cost money in the long run, but do it if that's the car you want.

Sorry, but the value of Custom Cruisers is so low that the third seat won't make any difference one way or the other. I'm parting an 84. If you figure out how to get it, you can have the third seat and all the rest of the hardware for free.

Thanks for the great advice! I think from your explanation that it may be more intense than I am capable of. I wouldn't know how to cut metal welds off of the floor or re weld them back on for sure. I think I will stay with the extra cargo space, lol.

There would be absolutely no return on your invested time, cost & effort to add the third seat... Especially if you personally have no need/use for the additional passenger capacity... JMO...
