Today my 71 cutlass supreme got his technical inspection . The shop did park the car outside when they where finished with it. And yes, it was raining all day long:-(.
So when I picked up the car I noticed that on both sides the Floor carpet was wet, half way the doors... is this a common location on these cars to get wet? Normal I had wet floors near the firewall.
The weather striping is a bit old so my guess is that it needs to be replaced.
I hope some one can give me advise.

Ps, the olds did pass the tech inspection so time to get some miles on the rebuild 350 :-)

What's a technical inspection?


As for the leakage, the most likely spot is the bottom of the windshield.
Another good spot is the kick panel vents, especially if the plenum is full of debris.
Doors are always possible, but the rain gutters tend to divert most of the water - check on a nice warm, bright day with a garden hose.

With Tech inspection i mean the dutch APK . Cars in the Netherlands need to be checked every year to make sure the are road worthy. The test brakes, suspension, lights, rust, electrical and a lot of more things.

Well, they do that same in Finland. Last year i was a bit on trouble due to my sidemarkers, sealed beams and orange parking lights at front- all forbidden here. Got past it, and gonna try this year too. No way im going to delete my side markers or orange parking lights from 40 year old car due to some idiot office worker who wrote the law..

But there are some good sides too. With a car made before 78, squirrels can drop from trees when you drive past, no emission requirements before that, and the first requirements concerning emissions are also really loose.
