Question on installing silver trim around dash

I am replacing the silver trim that runs along the top of my 71 cutlass supreme dash. Should I use the old holes to install the clips or start new ones? Some of the old clips broke as I was removing the old trim and are still in the dash pad (can't pull them out). I don't want to push them in until I get some advice.

Thank you.

Mine was glued on. There are no holes from clips either. When I install new trim I'm going to glue it back on.

You can get new clips. I thought most vendors sent the clips with that trim! Just insert into the old holes if the hole is still good enough to grab the clip, or punch new holes in the same area if needed. Slide the clips onto the trim before installing.

Thanks guys, your input is appreciated. I'll use the clips that came with the trim. They look sharp enough to punch through the panel if needed.

I punched new holes when installing my trim. Only the 1970 models were glued, '71 & '72 used the little barbs.

Glad I ran across this post. I was just going to ask the same question on installing the chrome trim strip on my 72 Cutlass.
Thanks Guys.

What type of glue was used on the chrome trim? I have a 70 and noticed who ever installed the trim used those barbed clips.

I used 3M plastic trim and emblem adhesive.
