Just Dashes

Just Dashes. Anyone use just dashes to restore a dash? Results look nice.

They did the dash pad on my '68 Cutlass S. Looks brand new. They did a great job. Be aware though, a dash with lots of detail (like the "stitching" on my '78 Starfire dashpad) they don't do as well. I can't speak from personal experience on that, but I have been told that they can't do that detail.

Here's part of mine:

The whole thing is flawless though. Very expensive (I had the A-pillar pads recovered too), less than $1000.00. I think mine took about 14 weeks from the day I sent it to the day I got it back.

starfire ...dash looks fantastic! And so does the rest of the dash / interior... How does the texture / grain of the material compare to the original on this?

and...I love the Springsteen quotes! Big fan here in Ky!

thanks...

It may actually have a little deeper grain than original. The only original ones I saw were in my Dad's 1968 Vista Crusier (1968 - 1972) and in my '68 Cutlass Supreme 4-door (1976 - 1979) and that was a loooong time ago. Either way I think it looks great and even though it was expensive, it was worth it. The one thing you see everytime you drive your car other than the steering wheel, is the dash. I was so tired of looking at my cracked, spray painted the wrong color by the PO, low grain dashpad. I stripped the metal part of the dash while the pad was out to get recovered and painted it the correct color and gloss. I'm very happy with how it came out and actually think I got my money's worth out of it. Thanks!

ive seen a 70-72 first handed..i helped restore a w-30..the customer shipped the dash off before he got to see my orig 9,000 mile pad...so when it came back, we side by sided them..

on a scale the JDs are a 9..and heres why..we just could not get the chrome moulding thingy in the JD pad...it was too puffy..fluffy what ever...and you could see the diff side by side...it was obvious it was a reskin..but still very nice..

BUT 99% of the people would never see the issues...and i'd use one...if it came with a car..im not sure id spend that kind of money on my own to have one done..i think theres minty pads out there for less than $1700

but i get the part..some people need it all new..i get it...
