Talking Ralley Pack conversion

Hello all, I am so wanting (needing) to replace the grandpa style speedometer cluster with the ever so cool looking ralley pack cluster, I already have the kit. I have a Rally Pack that has the seperate guages, like tach, oil, coolant temp.

I was told that the only thing that would have to change it the coolant temp sensor in the block from the single trigger to the variable reader. Is this true?

Would you answer these questions for me?
1) should i get them calibrated?
2) where can I get them calibrated?
3) does anyone have a nib set for sale?

The Bean. :^)

I am assuming this is an original GM gauge set.
Is this the one you have?

If so, then you would need the coolant temp sender and also the oil pressure sender. The oil sender will need the brass 45* elbow for clearance.
The wiring plugs will need some wires rearranged and the jumper on the back will need to be set to V8 or V6.
No actual cal will be required for an 80 Cutlass.

What is a nib?

If you are using an original used set of gauges for your '80 Cutlass, you might want to have them checked before you install them. The tach on the 78-80 Cutlass cars is known to be problematic so if there is a problem, it would be good to get it corrected before you install it. The problem has to do with the connections on the circuit board and if I recall, I was able to correct this on a 79 HO years ago by soldering the contacts on the 6cyl/8cyl jumper to the circuit board, although there is no way to know what is required to correct any problems you might have, if you have any. Like I mentioned, get it checked out first if you have a used set-up.

Hi lady72nrob71, yes that is the exact set I have like what is in the pic of the beautiful interior of your cutlass, very nice. :^)

yay! no calibration you say, I plan on replacing the entire wiring harness through out the vehicle

Nib is "New in Box" I saw one on ebay, but the seller wanted 300 for it, and that is out of reach for me at this time... darnit. :^( Thanks for info Mr. Young.

Hi 69442c, I dont remember where I picked the cluster, I have no idea of it even works now that you mention it, I will defenatly test when I can. I wonder if there is a way to find out what this cluster came from, maybe a mid 80"s cutlass. I had an 88 classic with this cluster and I loved it! I cant wait to get her completed and on the road, it would be a heck of alot cheaper that a newer vehicle, ya know taxes and insurance and all that, ya know.

Thanks for you input friend, The Bean. :^)
