Oopsies. 4 way power seat.
In the final stage of putting the 442 back together. Had the bucket seats out to clean up the seat rails and clean and lube all the moving parts. Disconnected and used graphite to lubricate the drive cables and during reassembly heard the dreaded crack of plastic breaking. You guessed it the sleeve that provides the resistance that holds the green cable connected to what I believe is the transmission broke rendering the seat disabled. Now finally the question. Will a speedometer shop be able to duplicate this cable or do I start an internet search to try and find a replacement? It was a great day until a 51 year old piece of plastic decided to rattle my cage. Dad gum it

I have repaired these before using the easier to find long cables from a bench seat. You can get those ends off but you have to be careful. Just cut the old one off being careful to not cut the green part. Take one off the long cable and glue it to the green one, They will come off without cutting if you take your time and pick at the green center. I have also taken a long one and cut each end off so that it was the correct length overall and glued a center connector tube to them to hold them together. Either way, Both methods worked perfect. Just need to find a long one.
