1970 442 Gauge Removal
Are there any tricks or tips on the removal of the gauge cluster on a 1970 442 with floor shift? How deep into the dash must you go to get the instruments out?
Thanks in advance!

About a 10 minute job if you have any mechanical skills. Remove the 4 phillips screws holding the wood grain piece around the instruments, 2 screws above the instruments & 2 under the ledge below the instruments. Then three 1/4" bolts/screws that hold each pod in place. As you pull the instruments towards you, be very careful removing the black harmonica connector from the instruments. I use a small flat screw driver & gently pry up on each side a little at a time till it slides off. If you're removing the speedo, you'll need to remove the speedo cable from the back before you pull it very far towards you. If you're removing the tach. you'll need to release the plastic fuse holder, simply push together & gently twist it & be sure to catch the fuse as it falls out.
