So I got this 7028255 carb....
My 68 H/O has a bunch of stuff on it that isn't correct. I have attempted to collect the correct numbers parts; one I acquired many years ago is a well-warn 7028255 carb. I found it in Hemmings and a guy near Milford, MI had one. The carb needs a total cleaning/resto.
Over time though I am now not sure what the correct carb is for a non-A/C 68 H/O. Is it the common 442 4bbl automatic carb (251) or it the much rarer 255, which was also used on W31s?
I checked the carb baseplate on the 255 carb I had; all it showed was "5", not 568 - just 5. It could be 1/5/68 - a Tuesday, so that would make sense - for a W31.
What is really correct?
The items I am sure of on my car are the block, heads and rear. I do have a 4-core radiator but it has been re-cored twice. The trans is not original. A 68-OW trans is, well, a bit pricey - if found.
My distributor is for a std 455 4bbl and is date-coded to early 68.
I have to check the intake and exhaust manifolds.
A friend of mine might have the original master cylinder. I might have the original alternator - somewhere. I do have the original brake calipers.
The rest, like a starter or water pump, I'm not going to worry about.

Your 7028255 carb is correct for your 68 non a/c H/O.
