1972 Hurst olds convertible

Hi. I am new to this forum and grateful to have found it.
I am looking for a mint 72 H/O convertible. Seen some
Trade at auctions. Any idea of where these should trade?
455/300. If it's been restored that's fine , just want to verify
Serial numbers which is hard. Willing to spend
But want to get what I'm paying for. Thx for any help

A W45 on the cowl tag is the key to these cars, as well as the "11 A" Cameo White / white top codes on the trim tag.

A U in the VIN will get you the 250 net hp 455 engine, and an X in the VIN will get you the W-30 455/300 net hp engine, but the X codes are extremely rare.

Verify the VIN stamping on the engine block and transmission as well before paying top dollar.

Good luck in your search.

Fyi

Why is it that almost all 1972 HOs advertised for sale states that the engine is equipped with a 270 hp engine? Drives me nuts. There is no way that a V code engine went into an HO until 1973. the 1972 HOs are equipped with a 250 hp 455 engine with the U code in the VIN or a 300 hp 455 with the X code in the VIN.

Good luck in your search. Paul Martin a member on here has one for sale in British Columbia. I believe it recently or will soon be going to auction in southern USA (AZ I think). Very nice car.
