They came both ways. I don't know if it was a change mid year or if it was an optional thing, or a luck of the draw. I am sure a 69 H/O guy will let us know soon.

the convertables were gold(for promotion)....some people with hardtops had dealers paint them gold or were painted gold but otherwise they came factory grey

^^^ This.

ALL 69 H/O Holiday Coupes came with Argent wheel centers. Many dealers or owners painted them Firefrost Gold because, frankly, it looks better.

According to Mark Fletcher's and Richard Truesdell's outstanding book "Hurst Equipped: More Than 50 Years of High Performance", the initial plan was to paint the (already Argent) centers Gold on all '69 H/Os. This proved very time consuming to an already behind production effort so the decision was made to not paint the wheel centers Gold anymore in the interest of saving time. They guess-timated only the first few dozen or so cars got the Gold wheel centers.

Argent silver like the others have said earlier. Have you had any luck finding a Hurst yet?

Spoke to Dick Chrysler last year, he was working at Hurst and was dealing with the 1969 H/O's at Demmer, the Scramblers @ AMC and the NYC Taxi cab program, was also responsible for sourcing parts. He verified that no 1969 H/O's left Demmer with gold centers, all argent grey.. He mentioned the Firefrost paint was also expensive back then and they weren't going to waste it on the wheels.

I bought a set of 69 H/O rims many years ago that were sold over the counter originally (they were on a real nice 67 GTO when I found them). They were originally painted black. Traded the guy a nice set of 15" Poncho rims even up for them. I have seen a few others just like them over the years...
