Haha it would be pretty cool to see this "boat" hitting 150 around a track!

Yes there aren't many of them around from what I hear. This one was just outside of Lansing, MI where I'm from. The owner is from Lansing as well, his family has a very well known garage here in Lansing that specializes in Oldsmobile mechanical work.

That's Calvin Badgley's car. It was used by Linda Vaughn at the 1974 500. Look close and you'll see her name on the door.

He has that one and the Hulman Salon sedan Pace Car up for sale.

Story behind the Delta Pace Cars was Olds had no open A-body cars except for the actual special-build Pace Cars and needed converts for parade duty. Ergo, Delta 88 convertible Pace Car replicas.

Of course, since these were parade cars and not actual pace cars, they never went "a buck fifty", either. Fifty was probably more like it.

I know they never went 150, just saying how cool would it be. Better have good brakes to haul it down!

Correct!

Hoping to see some more of the Badgley's vehicles at the car show at the river front here in Lansing in July, I may take my project car out there and set up a white board for people to write tips, tricks, and whatever other suggestions or referrals they may have. Should be a good show!

Friend and I were discussing these cars a couple weeks back and neither of us can fathom why most of them had plain wheelcovers, with a few getting wires. Bound to think Olds still had some Super Stock IV Polycasts in the parts system in 1974, that could (and should) have been easily used on the D88 Pace Car replicas.
