I just bought a '68 442 Holiday Coupe for a project. What would have been the base equipment on it?

I want to know what it has that was an option or delete. I'd also like to know the proper terminology and codes.

What I think is standard 442 equipment:

400 cid engine 4bbl dual exhaust
Exhaust cut out bumper
Fake hood vents
Y70 stripe
Stainless trim at wheel openings, on top of bodyline and drip edge
AM radio
Bucket seats (but with headrests which I think were an option)

The items that it has that I think are options are:
Power Steering
Map light above ash tray
Shoulder belts
TH400 Automatic (column shift)
A/C
Power front disc brakes
Clock

I haven't popped the diff cover to see what the ratio or posi situation is.

Bright mouldings over top of the windows inside and bright plates behind the arm rest bases...A Cutlass convert had almost the identical interior except for the dash double pinstripe...boxed control arms and sway bar, duals and different bumper brackets to hold the exhaust pipe hangers...radio is optional...clock too...I have a brochure that shows the PA1 disc as standard for 442 but mine came with small caps and a friend has a W30 that came with caps also...cap cars came with car coloured wheels and wheel disc cars came with black wheels...headrests were optional in '68 and standard for '69...

Yellowstatue, headrests were standard after January 1, 1969. Before then, they were optional.

Anyway, I think the radio was an option. A three-speed on the floor was standard. I think buckets were standard too, but a console was not. For most muscle cars, poverty caps were standard, and your car would be no different.

Mine has the pinstriping on the dash. Maybe that was part of the Y70 "GT Stripe"

PS. A bench seat was standard on 1968 and 1969 442s and while buckets were not an extra cost item, you had to specify them - the radio was always an option.

I differ on the bench seat issue. As I understood, bucket seats were standard in the '68 4-4-2. If you wanted a bench seat, you had to specify and you got a $68.46 credit on your window sticker.

X2 on the bucket seats and the pinstripe on the dash was standard too...

On 68 4-4-2; Bucket seats were standard, bench was optional and received credit as mentioned. What is interesting is that they cut off the mounting plates with a torch for that option. 4 speed hole was also cut out, not stamped. Dash pinstripe was either black or white and standard. Y-70 "GT" stripes (which almost NOBODY replicates) was standard unless replaced by W-36 or W-30 bumblebee stripe. I would like to see the reference to PA1's being standard?

Why are we resurrecting a thread from 2011? In any case, just read the standard equipment in the LH column of the 442 page from the SPECS booklet. And FYI, this clearly shows that standard equipment was "wheel hub caps", which are the dog dish caps. PA1 wheel discs were a $31.60 option.
