rare options
#2
are you looking for options like creature comforts or body parts or drive-line items - Maybe these
cruise control
speedminder
outside thermometer
if it had buckets - the electric seat back release
rear seat shoulder belts
rear speaker switch
would a 455 4 speed be considered rare in 72 - probably at least very desirable.
then there are all kinds of little items the dealer could install like
under dash tissue holder
under seat litter container
I've seen one Cutlass with the chrome light gauges on the front fendor - the ones that tell you if your lights are working
I'm sure there are a bunch of other items that were available but I'm no expert at production quantities.

I feel the electric trunk release is pretty rare - no luck finding one for a decent price.
Included only with the rally pac option - those seem not too common...
Those probably could be had in the trunks of 98's...

i think the seat belt warning light on top of the dash was only on cars with the rallye pac because the light would not fit at the bottom of the gauge cluster like the non rallye pac cars.

In the 3 year run for the recliners, each year the headrest option was "recommended" with the recliner.
Did all of the seats you saw/have come with the headrests, too?

By the way the 66-68 reclining Strato bench seat backrest A69 as found in Toros and Buick Rivieras recliner parts will transfer to the buckets seats.

I asked because I have a '66 recliner that does not have the headrest, which I gather is a bit unusual. Actually, I like to get a plain '66 bucket to use for my Sports Coupe instead of that recliner, as it did not come with the recliner.

I saw this up for auction on ebay last week, so they are out there - I think its another one of those seldom heard of dealer installed items.

You're right. In 72 the fasten seat belt light was required because of legislation. Cars equipped with the "idiot light pac" had the seat belt light included on the bottom of the I.P. light cluster. With the rally pac gauges, the seat belt pod was placed on the center of the dash. Only rallye pac cars had the pod. It's the same on that was used in 73-77.

Note that the cutout bumper was not available as an option by itself. It was automatically included with the 455 dual exhaust motors in the 442 (and H/O). It was not available on lesser Cutlii or with dual exhaust 350 motors. As an example, if the 442 option package was ordered with the 350 motor that year, the car came with a straight bumper, even when the N10 dual exhaust option was selected.
