tilt column

tilt column

I have a tilt column I want to install in 69 442 convert, the bracket for transmission lock rod needs to be in a diferrent position .can it be done? the column is for floor shift automatic, it fits in car very well otherwise .

There is no difference in the backdrive linkage between a tilt and non-tilt column. I'm guessing that you have a 1973-up column, not a correct 69-72 column.

was supposed to be for 69 to 72, but I think you're right.do you know if bracket can be moved?

If by "bracket" you mean the backdrive lever that comes out of the base of the column, the short answer is no. That lever is welded to the bottom of the shift tube that runs concentrically inside the column. The only way to relocate the lever is to change the shift tube or cut it off and re-weld it.
