In the 1972 Fisher Body service manual page 1-4 is a sample of a cowl plate that says these numbers are "MODULAR SEAT CODE" What does this mean? Does it indicate buckets, bench, cloth vinyl? Help please. Also where does one find the options codes for 72 "A" bodies. I have a half dozen books but non say what is what. THANKS!!!!!!!
This tag is from a Fremont-built '72 Supreme. A51 indicates buckets, A52 (not always on the tag) indicates bench. The 970 indicates black vinyl. Where are you seeing the 515 and 119 on the tags you're referring to?

Rather than make us speculate, why not just post a photo of your cowl tag? That will get you the most accurate answer in the least time.
I will try to post a pic. Note the three numbers to the right of the build date code of 11B November second week. The Fisher body service manual calls them the MODULAR SEAT CODE. What is it and where are these books available from. I am willing and glad to buy them if available. Thanks all

No, they are sequences that are related to the build sheet. FYI the seat selection on your car is the optional A65. That's right between your trim and paint codes. I wouldn't lose sleep over the sequence numbers.
EDIT: Since 977 is a white themed interior, this is a wild long shot but the RPO 119 from GM listings shows 119 : SEAT BELT COLOR WHITE Is that consistent with your cars interior?

Yeah, it's not.
TR 977 is your trim code, which for 1972 could be either white Strato Buckets or white notchback bench seat in the Supreme upholstery pattern. The A65 is the seat code that says it's the notchback bench seat. In prior years, the trim code was unique for either bucket or bench. For some reason in 1972 they reused trim codes. In any case, those two numbers unambiguously define your seats - modular or otherwise.
The three (or sometimes four) digits after the date code are data processing tracking numbers that tie this cowl tag to the build sheet. They are unique to the Arlington plant. No other plant used that type of three digit code. As I noted above, Fremont used a six digit code that tied to the build sheet.
Note that the CSM certainly doesn't indicate that there is any "modular seat code"

No one's arguing about the seat code except you. We're well versed in the RPO codes that go on that cowl tag. If you look closely at your picture in page 1-4 of the FBW manual it shows the OPTION for the seat code to be on the upper line with TR and PNT (as indicated by the inverted bracket over top of it; in line with the A51 on the lower line) and that's also consistent with the plant management (GMAD) administrative parameters for the cowl tag.
IMO, you're over analyzing this to seat code issue to death.
This is what is on page 1-4 of the Fisher Body service manual.
Your confusion is because that diagram is showing the seat code in two different places. The "A51" code is shown twice in that drawing. It only appears once on a real cowl tag - adjacent to the trim code in the case of your car. Note where it also says "modular seat code to the left of the diagram. In the case of your car, the A65 is your seat code, as we've said about three or four times in this thread. A51 was bucket seats, A52 was conventional bench seat, and A65 was the seat with arm rest.
