I do not know whether this illustration will work for your application on your vehicle. I think you have a 65 98? Here is a diagram from a 1971 to help provide you with a general idea.

Mirror

For what its worth, 1969 Cutlass is similar to the diagram posted. Special bolts are threaded into bottom of the mirror, then fed into the keyhole slots in door. I think the bolts are reverse threaded.

Thanks for your answer

Correct my car is 1965 98. No that illustration is not showing what i have. Bracket on my car is mounted with 2 screw in door. One earlier owner have cut a bolt and mounted so the mirror only is in place, so it is not steady, and it is not screwed on the bracket . I suppose there must be some sort of halfround bushing, washer and nut where the wires can go clear instead of that cutted bolt ?????????

There are two screws in the mirror bracket in the above illustration. They are identified in both locations. Since your installation has already been 'modified' it's difficult to suggest how you might install your mirror. It appears you'll need to perform another modification? I don't know. As I said, this is a general illustration. IMO, you can either attach the base plate form the outside>in, or inside>out, and you 'could' do the same with the mirror attachment to the base plate. Just be certain you do use the base plate, since it does provide the additional support when the mirror is mounted so you're not using only the door metal. Sometimes these things require a little ingenuity when they have already been modified by a PO.

Sorry, it does not. The OP's mirror requires a mounting bracket that I do not see in his photo.

This drawing is 1967. The 1965 mirror is similar. Keep in mind that not every Olds is the same as the 68-72 A-body cars.

So you do have the bracket? If so, you just need to drill three holes in the door, two for the sheet metal screws and one for the cable to pass through.

I think his bracket is missing the tab for the upper draw screw that pulls the mirror back to lock it on the mount.

I'm sorry as I realize you're trying, but I can't really understand that. Can you post photos of both sides of the bracket. I believe Eric is correct about the missing tab on the bracket.

Something must hold footpart and mirror together

The little screw on footpart, hold it to the bracket and the bracket fits on door, but footpart and mirror must hold together with something, thats the 10000 dollars question

I think the problem is that the tab into which the screw that goes in at an angle is broken. I've circled the tab and screw in red the diagram and where it's broken off in yellow in your photo. Without this tab, there is nothing for the mounting screw to screw into, and the mirror will not stay in place. I have the same thing on the rearview mirror on my '67 Delta 88, but mine is not a remote-control mirror.

As you put it, " footpart and mirror must hold together with something." The "something" is that tab, and it's missing.

Here's the mirror on my car, and I've circled the screw in question. On the OP's car, the hole on the bracket into which this screw screws is broken off.

His bigger problem is that the round mirror head and swivel ball aren't attached to the chrome base. It appears to be missing a nut of some sort.
