71-72 Tailights

Were there more than 1 style of taillight lenses produced for the 71-72 Cutlass , 442, or Supreme?

Thanks

Yes. The only difference for the CS models that were HO cars is they had the tail lights framed in satin black instead of silver. Other than that, every Cutlass model coming from all the factories had exactly the same tail lights. Same headlight bezels, same side marker lights, same front bumpers, and the list goes on.

Well, the 71s and 72s are different from each other.

Kenneth - yes sir you are spot on. I didn't see the '71' in the title of the thread. Although the design of the 72 is different, both 71 and 72 share the exact same size lens, and the same buckets that they are mounted to. There is also another difference in the 71 difusers.

The uppers are exactly the same as the 72, but the lowers (larger ones) have a clear slot for some reason.

1971 difusers

and lenses

1972

and lenses

One correction to my earlier post - there were no 1971 HO cars, so the information about the HO's is strictly related to the 72.

72 tailights

Also some early production 1972 442s also had the tailights blacked out, my 72's original taillights were satin black around them.

Seeing that I was born in 1974 , i'd say no. But my mom and dad did! I was brought home from the hospital in it!
