72 442 ?

Did Olds make a 442 version with the "Supreme" body style with vinyl top in 72 ?

If so, how does one prove it to be a true 442 without a build sheet?

Which digit of the VIN would show the X ?

there would only be one X in the VIN of a 72 442 if it is a W30.

442 option code W29 was not available in the Cutlass Supreme hardtop.
(cutlass supreme has the formal squared back window not the fastback style of a cutlass 'S')

however the same X in a "1972 cutlass supreme" hardtop VIN
could indicate a Hurst/Olds car.

I'd be interested in seeing pics of that 442 tribute Supreme. When done right they look pretty cool.

I grabbed online ad pics of this one with 442 grilles and emblems at least 8-10 years ago when it was for sale. Yes, they took the lazy route and kept the rocker moldings and side trim and decklid lettering on it, but it's a handsome "what if".
