67 Cutlass Radiator Hoses

Trying to replace upper and lower radiator hoses. 67 Cutlass 330 4bbl h/c with a/c 3 core radiator. From what is available, the upper is too short to the engine to go around the alternator and the lower has the wrong bend to go around the frame. Would anyone have the correct numbers for replacements? Thanks.

Rockauto lists a few different part numbers and manufacturers with pictures of the hoses. You might can use those numbers at the parts store. Another idea is if you have the old hoses that worked, take them to the store and see if they can match them up.

67Radiator hoses

Thanks, I've got all that. My issue is the upper hose doesn't seem to be for engine with a/c, as the top mounted alternator is in the way, making the hose a few inches too short at the engine. The GM # matches to the Gates # and it is the only hose that comes up. Also is the # hose that Fusick sells. So, I have to think I'm doing something wrong.

67 Cutlass Radiator Hose

OK, here's the deal. The radiator top port will take 2 sizes of hose. I don't know if this is original or a replacement, it looked like a fresh recore when I got it. Also, I found this adapter in the original hose and when installed on the smaller diameter of the port, it fits quite well. Look at the pics. Thanks.

I don't know if thats an original radiator or not, I don't think the original had a stepped upper hose bib. I have an adapter on my lower hose with aftermarket radiator, it works well.

This is not the issue you described in your first post.

That's a one-size-fits-all generic replacement radiator. The factory ones did not have the stepped hose barb. The spacer in your hose is also an aftermarket part for similar applications. Suppliers are always trying to reduce part numbers that they have to warehouse by making one part fit multiple applications. Some vendors make all their radiators with the smaller hose barb and supply that spacer for applications that use the larger one. Other vendors make the stepped hose barb. You shouldn't need both the spacer and the stepped hose barb - one or the other.

I was not aware of this issue in my first post. By moving the hose to the closer bib, it had the length to reach the engine. Progressive discussions are how these issues are solved. Thank you.

Glad its fixed. I agree about the progressive discussions, sometimes its better to think out loud and bounce ideas off others.
