The SS-1 rims look like the later 14x7 type. What is wrong with the hood, it looks to be the factory stock one, including the standard 442 pin striping?

The 10 bolt valve covers and corresponding bolts was a dead give away to 76 and older heads. The long reach plugs Joe shows are 307 swirl port only, 85-90. Use the NGK XR45 plugs. Get a 625 cfm Street Demon carb, a massively better carb than the piece of junk Edelbrock carb.

My only point with the 307 plugs was to demonstrate that there ARE 5/8" hex, gasket seat plugs that WILL screw into the early heads and will work. The reality is that the OP had incorrect taper seat plugs in the car.

Hey Joe,
We are planning on a disc brake conversion for the front and I saw another thread on the subject wherein you were a bit of an authority on same. My question to you is; Will the current wheels work after said conversion? Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I can't tell from the photos in this thread what wheels you have. The easy thing to do is to pull one of them and look at the backside. In this photo, the disk brake wheel is on the left. Note the shape of the dropped center section (yellow arrow vs. green). Also note the bead (light blue arrow). You can see this feature from the back of the wheel even with the tires mounted. All disk brake wheels have this bead.
