production #s for 70 w30 special order colors
the seller claims his yellow w30 is one of 20 in this special order paint.
Any documentation to verify this claim would be helpful and appreciated
as i would have one of 20 also if it's true.

I wish I did. When I had it, it had already been painted a modern red color. It was a -- paint code and high optioned car. It had paper work to prove it was ordered that way. The original paint was under the red and could see it in the door jambs. I have been hunting that car for over a year and can not locate it. I want that one back. Was missing the original engine but the original OW was still there. Had the broadcast card also.

Ever the precocious one, I asked the seller if he had documentation supporting the stat:
Me: Hi, do you have documentation that your car is 1 of 20 in this color?
Him: I have the original build card that indicates the Sebring Yellow color for this car.
Not a good start, eh?

I'm not sure which is worse: the guys who use deceptive "period correct" or "W-30 package" on an non-W30 or other misleading wording, the guys who blatantly leave undesirable details out of the ad, or those who make up the stats as they go along.
I would think that those who are going to spend big money on these cars would do their research and know what they are buying, but we have seen many examples of cars that sold with these issues both big and small. This is part of the reason why I plan on having an Olds expert proofread my ad before listing the car. When you list incorrect items like this, you instantly lose part of your intended audience.

Me: Hi, thanks for your quick response. But the original build card doesn't say anything about 1 of 20. Do you have documentation that supports this statistic?
Him: That is the estimate from OCA (Olds Club of America).

I discount anything a seller (especially a dealer) says. What I can't understand is how intelligent buyers can put any stock in claims like this. On the other hand, I have no problem separating idiots from their money.

I think my all time favorites are the deliberately obscured photos of specific important stuff. There's no photos, then there's incomplete photos, then there's bad photos that are complete, then there's good, complete photos, but these are good, incomplete photos that look complete!
