Relief for Rattling Colonnade T-tops!

If you have a '73 - '77 Cutlass and your factory Hurst Hatch T-tops rattle even after you adjust the bumper screw in the end of the clamp, you don't have to "just live with it". Here's one fix I've come up with:

-- Remove the T-tops

-- Find some heat shrink tubing that can just be forced over the tabs at the inboard sides of the top cutouts (yes, it exists).

-- After you have forced it completely onto the tab, cut it off leaving 1/4" or less of excess.

-- Heat it up with a heat gun, being careful to avoid scorching the T-top weather seal.

-- Repeat steps 3 & 4 above, thereby creating two layers of heat shrink tubing on each tab.

-- Trim off excess with a sharp razor blade.

-- Do this three more times and you're good to go!

Cool suggestion. I like McGuyvering stuff like this. Just one word of warning: The heat-shrink tubing is not likely very tolerant of UV light, so if you drive (or park) the car in the sun a lot with the T-tops removed, you can plan on re-doing this every few years.
