quadrajet Qjet port identification and whats this ?

im ready to bolt my carb on but i wanted to make sure i IDd the ports correctly.

The front view shows what I think the ports are. PLease correct me if Im wrong

The back view has two ports im not sure what they are? I think #2 is related to the hot air choke (i installed an E choke) and #1 IDK what it is for. if i dont need these 2 on the back can (and should) i just cap them off?

thanks for any help

Yep, those look right.

The only thing I can't say much about is the rear-facing side -
One of those is definitely the inside-air-cleaner air feed for the hot-air choke, but I can't think of what the other one is for.

I believe #1 should be the vent line from the TCS solenoid if this is for a 71/72. #2 is for the air cleaner. The Hot Air choke is a metal line that goes to the choke coil spring housing.

Ah, yes, TCS. Very logical.

All of the Olds carburetors I've messed with over the past few years were 1970 or earlier, so I hadn't seen this.

One side of the hot air U pipe goes to the choke housing; the other side goes to the port on rear of the air horn so it pulls filtered air from under the air cleaner. There is a short section of rubber hose that connects the metal pipe to the nipple on the carb.

ok very good info thanks guys.

It is for a 72 application kinda its my 72 CS w a 70 455, and IIRC the carb is a 72 as well, but no TCS and no hot air choke, so i will block those two off.
