Oil Filter Question

Can anyone tell me if a PF23 will work on SBO engines? I know that PF24, PF30, PF58, PF59, and PF61 will all fit. Supposedly the PF23's are very similar in size to the 24. I have the opportunity to buy some NOS ones and just want to make sure they fit first. Thanks.

If the threads and the gasket location are the same, it should work. PF-23 is an old and long-obsolete number and I cannot remember the applications.

Thanks for the reply. Supposedly, it is the same thread and gasket diameter as a PF24. My 63 Riv also takes a 24 so I figured if they worked, it would be a good buy since they would work in both my cars. I paid $32 for 6 of them.

The media won't last forever. I suspect it can break up if really old. that would be bad news indeed.

Yeah, that would be bad, I will have to inspect them when they come here. I didn't think that they would deteriorate over time.

I run Napa Gold too but this looked like a cool vintage thing to have and I thought I would use a couple and keep one or two on the shelf next to other cool auto stuff I have.

Is there any way to tell if they are bad before I use them?

The seal is relatively easy to inspect and make certain it is still soft and not hard...The element is paper and could dry out..........I guess you could sacrifice one and see if everything is OK on the inside.
