mods required for harlan sharp roller rocker?
i tried a search on the topic-not a lot of luck.
ernie's 425 is going to have harlan sharp rollers up top under stock 73-74 valve covers.
he has a set of Ga heads. crossovers blocked and dividers built-up for w/z manis.
iirc, the rocker pads get milled down .100" to compensate for the required guideplates...?
also, the stud holes get drilled and tapped for the larger stud...?
thicker, or double valve cover gaskets are required...?
did i miss anything?
tia,
bill

Depends on the HS model. The mini-shaft type are bolt on and will need double gaskets to fit or have baffling removed. You'll need custom length pushrods.
The stud type will need the holes drilled and tapped (3/8 or 7/16), use short polylocks to minimize valve cover height impact. I'm not sure if milling the pads is required, it should help with stud height, though I've never done it. I had a short polylock on my last BBO and it still needed double gaskets to clear the baffles in stock notched valve covers.
You may want to consider using the 5016's (labeled as bulldog head), they are supposed to have better geometry for the Olds valvetrain even on stock stuff.
After you have the studs/guide plates installed, you'll want an adjustable pushrod to set pushrod length to minimize the sweep across the valve tip, then order your custom length pushrods.
BTR's book has a pretty good section on this, you can preview some of it on the google books feature.
