It's not "safe to say", it's fact. Every single 400 motor installed in a 1967 442 has the "V" prefix and "G" suffix in the engine unit number. That will be stamped on the front of the passenger side head and on the P-O-P.

Also, unless it is a Fremont car, it will have a "V" on the cowl plate.

Thanks guys, great news for me! The C heads are the only thing missing, the original owner is deceased. All other numbers match. I知 buying it this week so I知 sure I値l have more questions. It has one B head and one E head now.
Thanks Joe for getting me back on this great site.

So,a 67 442 built in CA,sold at a dealership in CA will have the A.I.R.? Is there a way to tell if it was ever there? Thanks

Threaded holes in the A.I.R. bosses in the heads would be the telltale. Engines without A.I.R. did not have the bosses drilled and tapped.

Yes, any Olds initially sold in CA in the 1966-67 model years were required to have A.I.R. The assembly factory was irrelevant. What mattered is that the car was sold in CA. My 66 442 was also sold new in CA and came with A.I.R.

This is probably what happened to this 67 442,original owner didn’t like the A.I.R. System so he removed it and the C heads with the tubes in them all at once. Everything else matches up, Thank you
One more thing, the backseat has never been out, what are the odds that the build sheet is there?
