how to take this trim off

Question how to take this trim off

how do you take the trim off at the bottom off the door on 83 delta 88 not the very bottom i got that but how u take the trim above that off the part thats on the door itself and also is there anywhere to get wood grain tape are something like that thanks oldssnow.jpg

These pieces are attached with plastic clips. The clips have a "springy" arm at the bottom or sometimes it's at the top.

Look in the door jambs and you should see some screws or nuts at each end of the door. Take those out. Then lift UP on the bottom edge of the trim which will disengage it from the top edge of the plastic clip and allow you to pull it outward and off the clip. Then relax it and you can get it off the bottom edge. If it don't work lifting up, try pushing DOWN on it since the springy may be at the top.

Be warned, young friend- after 27 years those clips will probably break and you'll have to dig deep to find new ones, or even good used ones. If you take it off the car permanently, there are weld studs on the door that the clips mount to that you'll have to grind off. I have 3M double sided tape holding a couple of mine on the Custom Cruiser.
