I have a 455 rebuilt about 15 yrs ago with flat top Pistons now with gas available I have to much compression. Could I replace head gaskets with thicker gaskets to eliminate this problem thanks Eldyn

Can't see gaskets making or braking compression numbers enough. You may need more changes.

Do you mean NOT AVAILABLE? Did it run well when you had the old type gas and what is your compression ratio ? What are your symptoms now... Maybe ping problems?... We need a little more info to be able to help much.... Tedd

I don't know the exact compression ratio but i would say 11:1. It pings bad. I was thinking the thing the thing to do would be a set of smog Pistons. Also has a small cam headers rpm intake hei ignition. I will find out the exact heads. Thanks Eldyn

11:1 compression ratio and a small cam = ping like crazy.

Perhaps you could install a cam with later intake closing to bleed off some cylinder pressure?
