Anyone put a/c in their ‘67 Cutlass/442?

My mechanic was looking at options for installing vintage air in my ‘67 442. Vintage Air does not offer a kit for that car. They do for a ‘67 Chevelle, and he thought he might be able to use it with some modifications. However, it does require removal of the right front fender and neither of us are OK with that. For those of you that have added a/c to your ‘67, what have you done?

Vintage AC

I used the kit from a 68 cutlass. Some modifications were made and right fender was removed to get it to work. If you call vintage A/C they will mock up the kit for you. I believe mine was first kit they did. We used suggestions from previous member to develop kit.

I don’t think you’re going to get around not removing the right fender.

Agreed. Pulling the fender will make it much easier, however you may get away with just pulling the inner as to not disturb panel alignment.

The factory manual tells you where to drill a hole in the inner fender . This allows you to access the lower bolts, that hold the heater, blower cover. However I dont know if you can install the vintage air, wiithout removing the inner fender. The outer fender in any case does not have to come off

Not sure what it’s like on a 68…but removing an inner fender on a 65 is a mess.

I have been toying with installing a/c on my 67 also. I'm thinking 67 Chevelle under the dash assembly from Vintage, a factory a/c bracket and Vintage has a compressor that will fit it. I would paint it black. The hardest obstacle I think is finding decent factory a/c vent ***** for the ends of the dash.
