1993 Olds 88 Royale LOCKED TRUNK HELP
Hoping someone can help me:
I locked my keys and key fob in the trunk of a power trunk equipped 1993 Olds 88 Royale LS.
Power trunk release button only works with key in ON or run position.
If I call a GM dealer- Do they have the capability to cut a door or ignition Key by virtue of the VIN # for this car this old ?
Question I have is: Can a door or ignition key be cut from a car dating to 1993. (car is equipped with Pass Key ignition system)
Thank you...... kinda urgent as I start work at 10am tomorrow!

Will do....but anyone know if I can some how get 12 V to the trunk release solenoid, via the fuse block? (or by the leads at the power trunk switch ?
I have access to inside the car- I didn't lock the doors when this happened.
Power trunk release switch (only operates) with key in ON or run position.
With ignition off: power trunk release button does not energize the trunk release solenoid.
On a prior Olds 88 I once owned: It DID work with key off. But it was a 97 Olds 88. Damn GM for not allowing that release switch to work all the time!

Applied 12 V to one of the two terminals (on this car) top terminal of the Trunk release Fuse terminal at the fuse Block......this energized the trunk solenoid and I was in. Love the power of the internet and a friend from college in Auto Technology who remembered how to bypass the fuse by applying 12V to the fuse terminal. Worked like a champ and the car did not catch fire lol. Lessons learned and NEW set of Keys being duplicated in the morning at my local (cough cough) Chevy Dealer.

On this car: power is only supplied to the trunk release switch with key on or in run position. With Key off: the trunk release switch powers down and can not be jumpered behind the switch. Running 12V to the top terminal of the 20a fuse for the trunk release which also happens to power the shift interlock and back-up lamps. I got in and now I can sleep not worrying about how to get to work in the morning. lol It does make for a valuable lesson on the tricks to get into a locked trunk IF the car has Power Trunk. If it hadn't had this....MUCH MUCH MUCH more of a hassle. Would had to take the back seat out. none the less- New spare keys on way to work in the am.....!
