1968 442 colors

Is there a thread already started on here to help me decode the paint color code on a 68 442 convertible I'm thinking of buying? I'll pull the code tomorrow but would like to take this reference with me when I go see the car

Diego's link to the SPECS Guide is a good one, but to specifically answer your question about colors:

Note: because of lighting, signal compression, and screen display variations, these colors aren't exact.
The ones on the second sheet look closer to me.

Related to this I saw something kind of cool on OldsCentral the other day. An Oshawa built 68 Cutlass S with a Q-Q paint code (Verdoro Green Metallic)......
It's interesting because everything I've ever read has said that special order Oldsmobile paint codes were always "- -" unless it happened to be used by another Oldsmobile product line like the "Z-Z" 68 H/O.

Thanks everyone. This is very good information. This photo is of the cowl tag. Can someone help me decode all the other information? I believe the car is a sapphire blue

05B = time build code = May (05), second week of that month (B), 1968

67 = body type = convertible

LAN = assembly plant = Lansing MI

376600 BODY = Fisher body number (completely unrelated to your VIN)

TR 947 = interior color & front seat type = parchment in color with bucket seats

Randy, just following up on an old thread. How does one know from a trim code of 947 this was a bucket seat car? What do these 3 numbers break down to mean?

One place you can find them is in the 68 Assembly Manual

Does anyone have any pictures of a gold vinyl top. My 68 paint code is T8. Ivory with a gold top but the top was already removed when I bought the car. Also does anyone have pictures of an unmolested engine compartment and a parchment interior ? Thanks in advance. Also does anyone know if anyone kept production info on numbers of cars built and with what options. Mine was built in Fremont the 3rd week in September last 6 of VIN number 101242.

10D = time build code = October (10), fourth week of that month (D), 1967

ST 68 = style/model year = 1968

33687: 3=GM division=Oldsmobile; 36=model series=Cutlass V-8; 87=body type=holiday coupe (2-door coupe without a post)

FRA = assembly plant = Framingham MA

25640 BODY = Fisher body number (has no relationship to the VIN)

TR 940 = interior color & front seat type = black in color with bucket seats

V-2 PAINT = lower body color (V) & vinyl top color (2) = Juneau Gray with a black vinyl top

This car could be a Cutlass with a V-8 engine or it could be a 4-4-2. The only way to tell if it is a 4-4-2 is to check the VIN. If the VIN starts with 344..., it's a 4-4-2. If it starts with 336..., it's a Cutlass with a V-8 engine.
